Liverpool weather today and tomorrow as heatwave continues

The warm weather is set to continue in Liverpool as temperatures rise to 23 C this weekend.

Friday saw the hottest August day in 17 years in the UK.

A heat-health warning was issued as temperatures reached 36.4C at Heathrow and Kew Gardens - making it the hottest August day since 2003, according to the Met Office.

Liverpool's temperatures peaked at a balmy 25C, with the good weather set to last.

Saturday should see temperatures settle at 22C with back-to-back sunshine forecast between 9am and 7pm.

The Met Office said: "[Saturday is] dry with any cloud at first breaking up to give sunny periods, especially in the north, making for a very warm day.

"A little cloud spreading to the north later."

Sunday should see the very warm weather continue with variable cloud and sunny spells.

Liverpool has been forecast highs of 24C starting at 4pm and continuing well into the evening.

Meanwhile, the Coastguard has warned people to stay safe on the beach after rescue teams responded to dozens of call-outs across the UK by midday on Friday.

Hundreds of people packed on to the beaches across Britain on Friday morning as early as 9am.

HM Coastguard said around 70 call-outs had been made by midday on Friday, which is "above average for this time of year".
