Liverpool weather: Temperatures rising with first 'hot spell' coming

After a somewhat breezy start to the summer this year, it looks as though the warm weather may be upon us.

The Met Office has predicted that the country's first 'hot spell' is coming this week, with temperatures hitting high 20C and 30C in some parts of the UK. In Liverpool it's set to be dry and bright for the majority of the week.

The mercury will rise and touch 23C on Friday, so it's a perfect day to get out that barbecue. Today however, it will be mostly fine and dry with plenty of sunny spells.

There will be light winds and possibly the odd shower, but it will be mostly warm and dry. This trend continues into Wednesday, before it starts to turn increasingly hot on Thursday. Come Friday, the temperature will peak.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Dan Rudman, said: "Temperatures will rise through the week, becoming well above-average by day by Friday when many parts of the southern half of the UK are likely to reach 30C or even 33C in isolated spots.

"This is the first spell of hot weather this year and it is still unusual for temperature to exceed these values in June. Many areas will also see some warm nights with temperatures expected to be in the mid to high teens overnight."
