Liverpool weather sunshine before turning cloudy and rain to follow

Liverpool is set to be sunny and warm today, before it changes to cloudy in the evening.

On Friday, September 2, it will primarily be sunny with highs of around 23C. This will change by early evening as clouds begin to set in at around 6pm.

The Met Office said it will be a largely dry day with bright or sunny spells at times. There could be some afternoon showers, but these will be "few and far between". Forecasters have predicted there will be light winds also.

Tonight, it will be increasingly cloudy through the evening and it is predicted it will also be cloudy overnight as rain-bearing fronts approach from the west. It is likely to stay dry.

But that's all set to change as the weather becomes unsettled for the weekend. It's likely the weather will stay that way for the foreseeable.

Forecasters at the Met Office believe this will mark the beginning of a longer phase of stormy weather, with a long range forecast from Monday 5 September to Wednesday 14 September reading: "The start of this period is expected to bring areas of thick cloud and heavy, thundery rain or showers to many places.

"Any periods of rain could be longer than recently experienced. Some brighter spells are also possible. Strong winds are also likely in places, perhaps with a risk of gales.

"Temperatures are expected to be around average but variable, especially under longer spells of rain where it may be cooler, or in any sunshine which will feel warmer. " The Met Office has released storm names for the new season, with unsettled weather on the forecast.
