Liverpool weather: Met Office predicts 'patchy' rain but then 'warm sunny spells'

Merseyside is to be hit with "patchy" rain but "warm sunny spells" are set to break the cloud.

According to the Met Office, skies will be cloudy this morning with some patchy light rain. The showers will clear and the cloud will gradually break this afternoon to give some warm sunny spells, with a maximum temperature 15C. Tonight, there will be "long clear spells."

Forecasters have predicted this will move to some low cloud, mist and fog patches tonight, but will be "frost free". On Thursday, there will also be mist and fog which will slowly clear, according to the Met Office.

The warmer weather predicted for Easter weekend will also begin on Thursday as sunny spells start late morning. The Met Office predicts it will be "feeling warm in the afternoon sunshine and with light winds and the maximum temperature will be 18C.

For Friday to Sunday, the Met Office said: " Mostly dry into the Easter weekend. Occasionally cloudy during the mornings, but turning brighter through the day, with just a small chance of an afternoon shower. Warm in the sun."

Dan Rudman, Deputy Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, said: "It’s bit of a mixed picture as far as weather is concerned over the long Easter weekend, although feeling warm in places, at least early in the weekend. A low pressure system to the north west of the UK will bring unsettled weather to the north with some strong winds likely and rain in the north west, which could impact driving conditions for some.

"However, further south it will be drier, especially in the southeast, although there will be varying amounts of cloud. Temperature are likely to be above average for the time of year, although low cloud might keep temperatures lower in coastal areas."
