Liverpool weather: Met Office issue warning for 'Atlantic storm' with powerful winds

Merseyside is braced for more strong winds in the coming days after the Met Office issued another two weather warnings.

A yellow weather, for Tuesday and Wednesday have been issued, ahead of more strong gales.

The warning comes after many parts of the country were battered by Storm Ellen over the weekend.

Parts of the country are going to enjoy sunshine today, before harsh winds hit on Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters said.

The Met Office said: "[On Monday] any remaining showers should soon clear with the sunrise. The rest of the day will be dry with spells of sunshine and light winds throughout, becoming particularly sunny from the early evening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

"After a dry and sunny evening, [on Tuesday] a band of heavy rain will arrive from the west through the early hours accompanied by strengthening winds. Minimum temperature 12 °C."

Issuing a weather warning for many parts of the UK, including Merseyside, the Met Office added: " Tuesday and Wednesday sees another likely period of strong winds and gales, with some disruption to transport possible."

During this time period, winds of up to 60mph are expected.

The yellow warning for wind kicks in at 9am tomorrow and continues until midday the next day.
