Liverpool weather: hour-by-hour forecast as heavy rain hits city

Liverpool is set to be battered by heavy rain for the entire day today.

The Met Office has a string of weather warnings in place for the UK today, with snow, rain and ice forecast for the majority of the North on Tuesday.

Liverpool is no longer covered by any weather warning, but we're still set for a grim day of weather.

The rain that fell overnight will stay with us throughout the entire day, before finally falling away in the early hours of Wednesday.

The heaviest rain is set to fall this afternoon, but there will be showers throughout the day.

Temperatures will be remaining on the mild side, with highs of eight degrees.

And thankfully the rest of the week in Liverpool should be dry with light cloud most days and only the chance of an occasional shower.

The forecast for the North West said: "Overnight rain clearing to leave a largely dry morning with mostly cloudy skies.

"Heavy showers moving in from the south-west in the afternoon, thundery in places. Strengthening winds as well.

"Heavy showers during the evening, clearing during the first half of the night with variable cloud and clear spells. Further showers will move in from the west during the early hours.

"Tomorrow will have further showers for much of the day as well. However, there will be the odd brighter spell too. Moderate south-westerly winds.

"Thursday will start off wet with outbreaks of rain and hill snow, but it will turn drier later.

"Becoming colder on Friday with a mixture of sunny spells and wintry showers, perhaps with longer spells of rain and hill snow as well.

"The weekend will become increasingly cold, and it will remain unsettled with wintry showers and perhaps longer spells of sleet or snow on Sunday.
