Torrential downpours are on the way for Merseyside this week, with the Met Office forecasting hours of heavy rain by the end of the week.
Wednesday and Thursday will be characterised by overcast conditions and grey skies , with cloud coverage across the region for most of the day.
However, by Friday the city is set for hours of torrential rain, with forecasters predicting the downpours could last from lunch time right through into Saturday morning.
For now, conditions will be slightly more settled, with the Met Office forecasting a cloudy Wednesday and mild temperatures.
The maximum temperature is forecast to stay around 15 C, with lows of 10 C.
It looks unlikely that the sun will manage to break through the clouds today, with the overcast forecast carrying on into Thursday.
