Liverpool weather forecast: Thunder storms could be on the way as mini-heatwave melts away

Merseyside has been basking in glorious weather this week - but things could be about to change for the worse with the chance of thunderstorms on the way.

Thursday won't look too dissimilar to the mini-heatwave that hit Merseyside earlier this week - with sunny skies and highs of 20 C.

After another sunny and warm day across the region with even more warm sunshine, Merseyside could see some cloud bubbling up into the afternoon.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, the Met Office forecast says: "Turning more changeable from Friday onwards with a mixture of sunshine and showers; some perhaps turning heavy at times with a risk of thunder. Feeling cooler than recent days."

Temperatures will continue to drop heading into the weekend, with highs of 20 C making way for a maximum temperature on Saturday of 13 C.

Experts from the weather service are predicting showers and overcast skies on Saturday - and it looks like the mini-heatwave won't last until the weekend.
