Liverpool and Wirral weather forecast sees Merseyside set for sunshine but cold snap continues

Liverpool is set to see bright and sunny spells this week according to the latest forecast, but temperatures will remain on the cold side.

Last week saw sleet and snow hit Merseyside, with temperatures plummeting to single figures.

This week is set to be slightly warmer and there is hardly any rain forecast, with sunny spells set to dominate.

The forecast is good news for those hoping to visit a beer garden or restaurant with outdoor seating as restrictions ease.

Monday is set to be the sunniest day across Merseyside with bright sunshine set to dominate, but there will only be a high of 10 degrees.

Tuesday sees sunny intervals across our region, with temperatures slightly higher with a high of 12 degrees.

The rest of the week sees an almost identical forecast to Tuesday, with temperatures rising to a high of 15 degrees by the weekend.

The Met Office forecast for the entire North West said: "Today will be a dry and sunny day throughout. Still feeling fairly chilly for this time of year. Light northerly winds.

"Tonight is expected to be dry with mostly clear skies. Patchy cloud will move in towards dawn. A cold night with a frost developing under calm conditions.

"Tomorrow will have patchy cloud bringing a few light showers at times. There will be a few sunny spells in-between any showers. Feeling milder too with light winds.

"High pressure will build through this week, bringing settled weather conditions and temperatures returning to average for the time of year.

"Wednesday will be dry and sunny to start, but it will turn cloudier through the afternoon. A similar day on Thursday, but the cloud will not be as extensive. On Friday, cloud will build from the west, but with sunny spells in places.
