Liverpool weather forecast: Mini-heatwave continues with temperatures soaring to 22 C

A mini-heatwave will see temperatures reach as high as 22 C today across Merseyside.

The region has had the pleasure of basking in glorious sunshine and warm temperatures all week - and that run of good weather looks set to continue today.

The Met Office forecast for Wednesday looks glorious - with sunny skies eventually making way for a cloudier finish to the evening.

The mercury is expected to rise to a high of 20 C in Liverpool this afternoon, with a maximum temperature of 22 C across the wider region.

Temperatures will peak around 4pm, before cloud cover starts to come in and sets the tone for a less summery end to the week.

Things will stay clear and bright all morning and afternoon, with cloudy skies starting around 5pm and carrying through into the rest of the evening.

The Met Office report  for the wider region on Wednesday says: "A chilly start, but mainly clear skies and strong sunshine through the day, and feeling very warm into the afternoon.

"There will be some cloud around, perhaps leading to the odd shower over high ground. Maximum temperature 22 C."

On Thursday, things will stay warm and pleasant but with cloudier skies: "Another largely dry, sunny and warm day for most with strong sunshine. A little cloudier than recent days. Maximum temperature 20 C."

Looking ahead to the end of the week, temperatures are expected to drop off with considerable cloud cover and highs of 15 C.
