Liverpool weather forecast: Heavy downpours to blanket the city ahead of the weekend

Heavy downpours are expected to blanket Liverpool on Friday ahead of the weekend.

We saw rain make a return to the region earlier this week after weeks of glorious sunshine but it seems we haven't seen the last of it.

According to the Met Office , rain is expected to dominate more of the forecast throughout the day with many showers being heavy.

People across Merseyside should expect plenty of cloud as well which is surprising as a maximum temperature of 22°C is also predicted.

Thankfully though, it is not all bad news as the showers on Friday seem to be making way for a much milder weekend than expected.

Rain had previously also been forecast for Saturday and Sunday too but this has now changed and they are now expected to be sunny and warm.

A forecaster for the Met Office said: "On Saturday, cloud and rain, heavy at times, will spread northeast across all parts during the morning.

"Brighter conditions will follow during the afternoon, with a few showers, possibly heavy. Feeling humid. Maximum temperature 22 °C."

From Saturday to Monday however, the forecaster said: "Sunny spells and slow-moving, heavy and thundery showers on Saturday, but mostly dry and bright on Sunday.

"Mostly dry and windy on Monday. Turning increasingly warm and rather humid."
