Liverpool weather: City set to be battered by rain before sunshine at the weekend

Liverpool is set to be battered by heavy rain before sunshine at the weekend.

The Met Office predicts it will be cloudy weather today before it changes to heavy rain in the afternoon. The rain is set to come at around 3pm and the maximum temperature will be 15C.

On Saturday, forecasters predict it will be a lot brighter, with sunshine throughout the afternoon. The Met Office said: "Sunny intervals changing to cloudy by night time."

The maximum temperature will be 15C on Saturday. The BBC's advance forecast shows that in Liverpool, temperatures will be hitting 18C, 19C and even 23C next week.

Speaking about the forecast for the next few days BBC weather forecaster Nick Miller said: "It is a different weather set up though for the day ahead, higher pressure building in will keep most of England and Wales dry. Closer to weather fronts in Scotland and Northern Ireland, there is a chance of seeing a little rain in fact a cloudy and damp start for many places here.”

"For Wales and England there is a slight chance of catching a shower, (but) the vast majority will stay dry and while there will be a lot of cloud about, it will be a warmer feeling day with some occasional sunny spells. Up to 22C in the warm spots in south east England. Here a lot of dry weather will continue as we get on into Thursday night.”

He added: "Some rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland, gradually clearing southwards during Friday, sunny spells and a few showers following on behind. The rain moves into northern England, heaviest to the west of the Pennines, into Wales, parts of the Midlands, perhaps into western England getting on into Friday evening.

"Ahead of that there will still be some sunny spells for a time before it clouds over and this is where we will see the days highest temperatures, just into the low 20Cs."
