The Met Office has released this weeks forecast, as we enter the last full seven days of meteorological summer.
Despite a wet start, with heavy rain over Merseyside, the temperature has remained warm and muggy. These humid conditions are set to continue into Tuesday, August 23, with heavy rain and cloud cover predicted.
According to the Met Office, after the heavy bursts of rain today, it will turn largely overcast into Wednesday. By the time Thursday and Friday arrive, it will be drier and brighter, ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.

There will be sunny spells for most in Liverpool and Wirral, with high pressure building over the weekend. There will be highs of 20C.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Helen Caughey said: "There will certainly be more sunshine around for many over the weekend however it is unlikely to be entirely dry. There is a risk of heavier showers initially in the far south or southeast to start the weekend, with cloudier and wetter weather at times in the northwest through Saturday and Sunday.
"Monday will likely be a widespread day of sunshine and showers, which could break out just about anywhere, but should be relatively short lived, and some areas likely escaping them altogether. For most though, it will feel warm and pleasant in any sunshine, but chillier than of late in the evenings and overnight, especially in more rural areas."
