Liverpool weather as Met Office predicts when it will stop raining

Liverpool has been hit by torrential rain today, causing flooding across Merseyside.

Roads in West Derby were closed as emergency crews and council workers tried to clear the severe flooding caused by today's downpours.

And there looks to be no let up anytime soon, with the Met Office forecasting rain for the rest of the day and throughout the night, although it should be less heavy than this afternoon's rain.

The rain is forecast to last until 7am on Wednesday morning when it turns to drizzle.

Showers are forecast to clear completely by 10am and it is expected to remain dry for the remainder of the day after that.

Thursday is also set to be a dry day but the rain returns with a vengeance on Friday, with showers forecast for most of the day and into the weekend.

The cloudy and rainy weather will make it warmer however, with temperatures not predicted to fall below five degrees for the next week.

The forecast for the North West said: "Rain will become more showery but blustery outbreaks will be likely throughout the afternoon.

"Tonight, winds will ease but it will remain cloudy for all and the odd spot of rain is possible at times.

"Tomorrow will have a cloudy start to the day, but it should be mostly dry. Skies will clear around noon with some sunny spells likely for a time, but in the afternoon cloud will build from the west.

"Early on Thursday morning there will be some outbreaks of rain, which may be wintry on the high ground. The day will become drier, but it will remain cloudy and dull. Winds will strengthen overnight and Friday will see a band of showery rain pass slowly from west to east.

"Sunday looks to be a drier day and less windy, but it will remain cloudy."
