Liverpool warned their "few wobbles" could cost them against Tottenham

Liverpool might be flying high at the top of the Premier League table, but Chris Waddle has warned that Tottenham could cause Jurgen Klopp's side problems on Sunday.

The Reds are looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season at Anfield and enter the meeting with Spurs six points clear of defending champions Manchester City .

Last weekend's 1-1 draw at Manchester United has been the only league game to see Jurgen Klopp's side drop points this season.

In contrast, Mauricio Pochettino's side have endured a difficult start to the league campaign and have won just three of their opening nine matches and sit 13 points behind the leaders.

However, on the back of an impressive 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Tuesday , Waddle is confident the North London club will provide a real threat at Anfield.

And the former England winger, who spent four years with Spurs, believes his former club can take advantage of some "wobbles" displayed by Liverpool in recent matches against Leicester and Sheffield United.

"Mauricio Pochettino has the calibre of player to trouble the Liverpool defence," Waddle told the Racing Post.

"Harry Kane is a great leader of the line and Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Heung-Min Son have the pace to threaten."

He added: "They may have to defend deeper to stop Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane running riot but they can do that. Keeping Firmino in check will be key.

"If he finds space far from goal, Spurs should let him go. They don't want to get dragged in because then he will lead players to places they don't want to go and the other two will exploit any space that will be left behind.

"But Tottenham can get something from the game. Liverpool were strong against Genk in the Champions League but they have had a few wobbles in the league recently.

"Sheffield United should have got a point against them, while Leicester were denied by a late penalty at Anfield.

"Manchester United claimed a draw against Jurgen Klopp's side last week and I am convinced Spurs can do the same."
