Liverpool 'want Rodrygo to replace Mohamed Salah' as Real Madrid receive 'official request'

Ideal replacement: Rodrygo - (London Standard)

Liverpool have reportedly identified Rodrygo as their ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is expected to be the subject of bids from Saudi Pro League clubs in January.

After another game as an unused substitute, as the Reds were held to a 3-3 draw at Leeds, Salah dropped a bombshell interview to waiting reporters outside Elland Road,.

Salah said that he felt that he had been “thrown under the bus” by his club, and claimed he and manager Arne Slot had “no relationship”.

The star forward also said he was going to “say goodbye” to the Liverpool fans next weekend, ahead of leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations, as it could be his final game for the club.

Salah is reportedly of interest to a number of Saudi Arabian clubs, with The Sun reporting that Al-Hilal are leading the race for his signature.

Al-Hilal signed Darwin Nunez from Liverpool earlier this year, and are reportedly preparing a January raid for Salah ahead of the January transfer window.

And Liverpool are wasting no time in identifying potential replacements for Salah, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo said to be their top target.

Spanish publication Defensa Central claim that Rodrygo has officially requested to leave Madrid in January, prompting the La Liga giants to place a €70million asking price on the forward’s head.

Rodrygo isn’t the only name on Liverpool’s wishlist, though, with Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, formerly of Crystal Palace, also admired, according to BILD.

The same outlet reports that the Reds are weighing up a raid on Merseyside rivals Everton for star man Iliman Ndiaye. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo has also been linked.

Liverpool face Inter Milan in a tricky Champions League tie on Tuesday before facing Brighton this coming weekend.

Salah leaves for Afcon after that game, which could, potentially, be his last in a Liverpool shirt.
