Liverpool want more than £12m for Ryan Kent as Steven Gerrard's Rangers set to miss out

Ryan Kent is unlikely to make a permanent move to Rangers this summer with Liverpool seeking in excess of £12million for the winger.

Kent has been an impressive performer during a season-long loan after being taken to Ibrox by Steven Gerrard last July.

The 22-year-old has five goals and six assists in 21 league games and has been a regular starter since returning from injury at the start of the year.

Reports in Scotland have indicated Gerrard is keen to make a permanent move for Kent, who has had previous loan spells at Coventry City, Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City.

But with Liverpool valuing the player at more than £12m - and unlikely to sanction another temporary move - Rangers are increasingly resigned to the fact their funds cannot stretch to signing Kent on a permanent basis.

The Reds believe they have set a fair price for Kent given his impact in Scotland and a market place in which Bournemouth shelled out almost £12m for David Brooks last summer, despite playing only one full season in the Championship with Sheffield United.

With Rangers out of the picture, a number of Premier League and Championship clubs will now be alerted to Kent's availability.
