Liverpool vs Wolves result: Player ratings as Reds run riot to go level at top of Premier League

Liverpool beat Wolves 4-0 in the Premier League on Sunday as they welcomed fans back to Anfield for the first time since March.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring midway through the first 45, finishing smartly on the turn after Conor Coady’s attempted chest pass fell miserably short.

Wolves thought they had a penalty just before the break after Coady went down in the box, but a VAR review showed there was no contact.

The Reds were well in control after Gini Wijnaldum fired in a second, before Joel Matip headed a third and Nelson Semedo slid in an own goal fourth under pressure from Sadio Mane.

Here are the player ratings from the match at Anfield.

Liverpool

Caoimhin Kelleher - 8. Tremendous fingertip save early on. Took the ball well in the air all night.

Neco Williams - 7. Picked up an early yellow card but recovered well.

Fabinho - 9. Several vital tackles to stop Wolves’ counter threat. Two great clearances from in the six-yard box.

Joel Matip - 8. Similarly assured in the air and on the ground. Headed in a fine goal.

Andy Robertson - 8. Had a tough early part of the game against Adama but on the ball was exceptional, linking well with Mane in particular.

Jordan Henderson - 7. Controlled the game from the centre for the Reds.

Curtis Jones - 6. Good on the ball and worked hard for the team but also picked up a knock in the first half which hampered him.

Gini Wijnaldum - 8. Excellent throughout and scored a stunner.

Mohamed Salah - 8. Instinctive finish for his goal and a fine assist later on for Matip.

Roberto Firmino - 7. Two first-half nutmegs, lots of excellent link-play and a better performance than recently.

Sadio Mane - 8. A non-stop threat. Gave Semedo a nightmare, won free-kicks, created chances and worked back well - just lacked a goal.

Wolves

Rui Patricio - 5. Nothing he could do about the goals in fairness, other than perhaps stopping the cross on the fourth.

Nelson Semedo - 4. Couldn’t stop Mane in the first half and scored an own goal in the second.

Willy Boly  - 5. Never got to grips with the home team’s attacking movement.

Conor Coady - 4. Awful error of judgement for Salah’s goal and a clear dive for his team’s rescinded penalty.

Marcal - 5. Presumably picked for defensive solidity over Ait-Nouri but didn’t deliver on that task.

Leandro Dendoncker - 5. Not a match for Liverpool’s midfield on a physical or technical level.

Joao Moutinho - 7. Probably the stand-out player for the away team with good moments on the ball and plenty of hard work.

Ruben Neves - 6. Didn’t offer enough in possession.

Adama Traore - 7. Wolves’ best outlet down the right but fired one shot wide and didn’t have much else to work with.

Pedro Neto - 5. Anonymous in attack.

Daniel Podence - 6. Linked well at times in deep areas but had no impact in the final third.
