Liverpool vs Tottenham
Premier League 2018-19
Venue: Anfield
Date: Sunday, 31 March, 2019
Kick-off time: 4:30pm GMT
Liverpool welcome Tottenham to Merseyside on Sunday in what could be most important league game at Anfield in years.
The Premier League returns after the international break, and Liverpool are back in the thick of it with a tough home tie against Spurs.
With Manchester City facing Fulham early on Saturday, Liverpool will likely head into Sunday's clash in second place as the pressure begins to tell in the title race.
A win for Jurgen Klopp's side against arguably their toughest remaining League opponents could be the result which sparks a famous season for Liverpool, but a defeat will leave Man City in the driving seat for the run-in.
As for Spurs, Mauricio Pochettino's men have been dragged into the fight for a top-four finish after a poor run, and need a result to stay on track for Champions League qualification.
Liverpool vs Tottenham team news and predicted line-ups
Tottenham are without key central midfielders for Sunday. Both Eric Dier (hip) and Harry Winks (groin) have returned from the international break nursing injuries, while Serge Aurier (hamstring) will be assessed.
It is a double blow for Pochettino, leaving his central midfield options very limited. Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama will likely vie for a place in a five-man midfielder alongside Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
For Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold (back), Naby Keita (knock) and Xherdan Shaqiri (groin) are hopeful of a return to the squad. Joe Gomez (ankle) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (thigh) remain a couple of weeks away.
Klopp said at his pre-match press conference on Friday: "I think it's the first time everybody came back [from international duty] healthy!"
The right-back is only hopeful of playing from the off, with Gigi Wijnaldum, Fabinho and James Milner expected to start at Anfield.
Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Milner; Salah, Mane, Firmino
Tottenham (3-5-2): Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier, Sissoko, Eriksen, Dele, Rose; Son, Kane
Score prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham
With so much at stake for both sides, expect a nervy game where one mistake could decide things.
Liverpool have not been at their best in 2019, and Spurs have hit a rocky patch. A draw is most likely, but don't bet against either Mohamed Salah or Harry Kane having the final say as the game opens up in the second half.
