Liverpool vs PSV: Prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results, odds

Anfield expects: Liverpool take on PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League - (The Standard)

Liverpool are desperate for a return to winning ways as they host PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

The pressure is mounting on Arne Slot just six months after the Reds’ Premier League title triumph, with Saturday’s abject 3-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest representing his side’s sixth loss in their last seven top-flight matches.

That left them down in 11th place and it’s the first time in a decade that Liverpool have sat in the bottom half of the table after 12 games of a season.

Slot will hope that the Champions League can continue to offer some much-needed respite amid that ongoing domestic nightmare, following a 1-0 triumph over Real Madrid in their last outing at the start of the month.

Liverpool have also squeezed past Atletico Madrid at Anfield this term, while away they lost to Galatasaray before thrashing Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1.

PSV currently sit top of the Eredivisie with a six-point advantage over Slot’s former club Feyenoord having won 11 of their 13 games to date, including 1-0 against NAC Breda at the weekend.

Peter Bosz’s team have endured a very up-and-down European campaign so far, hitting Serie A champions Napoli for six but losing to debutants Union Saint-Gilloise and drawing against both Bayer Leverkusen and Olympiacos.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Liverpool vs PSV is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday November 26, 2025.

Liverpool vs PSV team news

Liverpool saw first-choice goalkeeper Alisson return against Forest after two months out with a hamstring injury, though Florian Wirtz was sidelined with a muscular issue suffered on international duty with Germany and was absent from training on Tuesday afternoon.

The Reds also have a shortage of right-backs, with Conor Bradley also suffering a muscle problem that will rule him out for a number of weeks. Jeremie Frimpong has been missing for a month with a hamstring injury picked up against Frankfurt.

PSV remain without young winger Ruben van Bommel, the son of former Netherlands star Mark van Bommel, who sustained a serious knee injury against rivals Ajax in September and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Also out is French forward Alassane Plea, who has been dealing with a knee injury since August and likely won’t return for some time yet.

Liverpool vs PSV prediction

A win here will do preciously little to calm the major concerns over Liverpool’s dire and shocking league form, which captain Virgil van Dijk conceded this week had been a “mess” in another scathing assessment.

The abysmal home loss to a Forest team already on their third manager of the season looking to escape the relegation zone was the worst of the lot, with the Reds looking totally and utterly devoid of any sort of confidence, cohesion or organisation.

Blip in Istanbul aside, the Champions League has been a welcome distraction for Liverpool so far this season and needs to remain the case on Wednesday, though PSV are certainly no pushovers - as Napoli found out.

Dominant domestically, their results in Europe so far have been very inconsistent though a positive result on Merseyside certainly isn’t beyond them.

However, we’re backing a Liverpool side no doubt showing a number of changes to produce a quick reaction from their weekend debacle.

Liverpool to win, 3-1.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Liverpool have won five of their previous seven meetings with PSV, though a much-changed team lost 3-2 at the Philips Stadion in the thrilling final match of last season’s league phase with teenage defender Amara Nallo sent off late on.

That result saw Liverpool’s 100 per cent record in the 2024/25 competition end, though they still finished top of the table before losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in the last 16.
