Liverpool vs Lyon: Prediction, tickets, LIVE stream, TV, lineups, team news – 2019 Geneva pre-season preview

Liverpool vs Lyon
Venue: Stade de Geneve, Geneva, Switzerland
Kick-off time: 6pm BST, today

Jurgen Klopp will be looking for a response from Liverpool as the Champions League winners take on Lyon having been thrashed by Napoli in their previous pre-season outing.

Since easily beating Tranmere and Bradford at the start of pre-season, Liverpool have endured a torrid run of results with one draw against Sporting Lisbon (2-2) and three defeats to Borussia Dortmund (3-2), Sevilla (2-1) and Napoli (3-0).

While Liverpool have been without key quartet Alisson Becker, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino due to international commitments, frequent defensive mistakes are a cause for alarm - and Klopp will want to see an immediate improvement with little time before the season kicks off.

As for Lyon, they are targeting their second win against English opposition in a week after beating Arsenal 2-1 in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.

Here's what you need to know...

Liverpool vs Lyon predicted lineup and team news

Mo Salah and Firmino are among the big names restored to the Liverpool squad for this week’s training camp in Evian.

The forward duo will be joined by Alisson in returning to training for the first time since representing their countries at international tournaments this summer.

Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri are also set to link up with their teammates in France having overcome adductor and calf injuries respectively.

Mane is the only big hitter to miss out, the Senegalese having been given an extended break after helping his nation to the Africa Cup of Nations final.

A number of youngsters have failed to make the cut, with Curtis Jones, Ben Woodburn and Nat Phillips set to train instead with the U23s.

Ryan Kent, meanwhile, will remain on Merseyside having been struck down by illness. But there is room for summer signings Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg, while U18s forward Bobby Duncan is included in the travelling party.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Milner, Henderson, Salah, Origi, Firmino

Liverpool squad: Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Brewster, Duncan, Elliott, Fabinho, Firmino, Gomez, Henderson, Hoever, Keita, Lallana, Larouci, Lewis, Lonergan, Lovren, Matip, Mignolet, Milner, Ojrzynski, Origi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Robertson, Salah, Shaqiri, Van den Berg, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Wilson.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Lyon

Sunday's 2-1 win over Lyon will see Lyon full of confidence on Wednesday, while Liverpool must recover from that wake-up call vs Napoli.

Expect goals at either end in what could prove to be a high-scoring draw - though the likes of Salah, Alisson and Firmino returning could just about tip the balance.
