Liverpool vs Leeds United: Cookstown gets behind hometown hero ahead of Premier League opener

Cookstown has been showing its support to hometown hero Stuart Dallas ahead of this weekend's Premier League kick-off.

Dallas will make his English top flight bow with Leeds United on Saturday.

And it doesn't get any bigger for the Marcelo Bielsa's men, as they face an away trip to champions Liverpool on the opening day.

Dallas and Leeds take on Jurgen Klopp's all-conquering side at Anfield on Saturday evening (5.30pm kick-off).

Northern Ireland international Dallas has enjoyed a meteoric rise since his days at Coagh United.

He went on to star for Crusaders where he won the Setanta Cup and League Cup; he was also named Player and Young Player of the Year in 2011.

Dallas joined Brentford in 2012 before signing for Leeds in 2015.

He was named their Players' Player of the Year last season as Leeds sealed their return to the English top flight following a 16-year absence.

Cookstown have shown their support to Dallas ahead of Saturday's Premier League return with a brilliant banner displayed in the town.

It reads: "From the streets of Monrush...to the Premier League."

It also includes the hashtags #OurCookstownCafu and #Proud.

Looking ahead to Saturday's game, Dallas said earlier this week: “As a young boy I dreamt of playing in the Premier League and hopefully this weekend I get that opportunity.

“To play against the team I grew up supporting as well will be extra special – but I’m a Leeds fan now.”
