Liverpool vs Crystal Palace LIVE: Premier League latest score, goals and updates from fixture

Anfield, home ground of Liverpool - (Getty Images)

Follow live coverage as Liverpool face Crystal Palace today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

40.1% of the action has been in the Crystal Palace third over the last 15 minutes. Liverpool are not letting Palace get away lightly with the opener, and will carry on trying to bring the game level as soon as possible.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

16:20

Liverpool continue to heap pressure onto the Palace box, but the Eagles’ defence has held strong so far. With a lead to protect now, we should expect to see similar defending to that in the FA Cup final win.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

16:17

Only against Aston Villa does Sarr have more goals (five) and goal involvements (seven) in the Premier League than he does versus Liverpool (three goals, four goal involvements). He has added yet another one here already. Is there more to come…?

Henderson catches another cross from Gakpo, which was swung in from the left-hand side. That’s the second time that the Dutchman has attempted that cross, and neither time has it worked.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

16:13

Palace scored with the first shot of the game, and that will irk Liverpool to their core. Surely they won’t want to lose in the final game of their title-winning season? It’s time for them to kick into gear.

Jones tries to slip Salah in behind, but the pass gets cut out in the process by Lerma. Palace then try to launch an attack of their own, but Mateta is thwarted by Konate.

Gakpo makes the first meaningful cross into the box, aiming for Bradley at the back post, but Mitchell does well to clear out for a corner.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

16:04

Liverpool have started well, as expected, and they are knocking the ball about with the confidence of the champions that they are.

KICK-OFF! Darren England blows his whistle for the first time here, and the game is up and running!

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

16:01

The teams are out on the pitch and Crystal Palace give Liverpool a guard of honour to start, with the away team receiving one back. What a lovely moment inside Anfield, top class from both sides. We’re nearly ready for kick-off here in Liverpool!

The most obvious talking point of these lineups is that Alexander-Arnold remains on the bench for Liverpool. With his exit seemingly imminent, his reception inside Anfield will be the main headline that comes from this game. Salah starts his 38th game in the Premier League this season, out of 38. This means he is one of two forwards to have done this this season, alongside Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford. For Crystal Palace, Marc Guehi may have played his last game for the club as he misses out through injury. There is plenty of interest from other clubs to secure his signature, and Lerma replaces him today. The familiar trio of Mateta, Eze and Sarr returns to the attack after a break against Wolves. Van Dijk captains the home side, and Henderson captains the away side.

Liverpool come into this game on the back of a three-game winless run, with losses to Brighton and Chelsea, and a draw with Arsenal. Nevertheless, the league is wrapped up, so you can somewhat forgive their players for losing a little bit of drive as the end neared. However, it is a bad omen for today’s game, as the last time these two met at Anfield, Palace ran out as 1-0 winners in April last year. Arne Slot will want to end this brilliant season on a high, though, so expect a better performance here. Salah will want his assist record aswell, so he will be raring to go.

Welcome to the winner's enclosure! Here we are then, the end of another Premier League season, and the final matchday is upon us. In this game, we have the Premier League winners facing off against the FA Cup winners, and what better occasion for it than the final day of the season?
