Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: Carabao Cup prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results, odds

Familiar opponents: Liverpool and Crystal Palace do battle for the third time this season already - (The Standard)

Reeling Liverpool will be out for revenge when they host Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup last 16.

This is the third meeting between these two sides already this season, with the Eagles winning the Community Shield on penalties after a dramatic 2-2 draw at Wembley in August before Eddie Nketiah’s last-gasp goal also saw them emerge 2-1 victors in the Premier League at Selhurst Park last month.

That latter win ended Liverpool’s 100 per cent start to the campaign in competitive action and prompted an alarming spiral that has seen them lose five of their last six matches across all competitions, including four in a row in the top-flight to leave the defending champions sitting seventh and seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal already.

FA Cup holders Palace, meanwhile, saw their club-record 19-match unbeaten streak ended by Everton earlier this month and are now winless in four after a six-goal thriller against high-flying Bournemouth was followed by a shock home defeat by AEK Larnaca in the Conference League and narrow loss at Arsenal in which they were sunk by former hero Eberechi Eze.

The Eagles saw off London rivals Millwall on spot-kicks to reach the fourth round, while Liverpool also edged out Championship opposition in Southampton.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace is scheduled for a 7:45pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday October 29, 2025.

The match will take place at Anfield in Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace team news

Liverpool were without record signing Alexander Isak and Ryan Gravenberch for Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Brentford, while it seems unlikely that they will be risked here even if fit with huge games against the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City approaching fast.

It remains to be seen when first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be ready to return from a hamstring injury, while Jeremie Frimpong (also hamstring) will be out for weeks and Giovanni Leoni for around a year after surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Cheick Doucoure and teenage defender Caleb Kporha are still sidelined for Palace, while Chadi Riad is expected to resume training soon after a long-term knee injury.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace prediction

Just how much longer can this Liverpool malaise continue?

Jamie Carragher believes they have already entered “crisis mode” and Arne Slot will be desperate to turn the tide as quickly as he can, even if the Carabao Cup probably doesn’t hold a great deal of prominence in the grand scheme of things.

Palace have been a real bogey team for Liverpool in recent years and they will be relishing the chance to pile more misery on a Reds side over whom they will feel they have a psychological edge after beating them twice already this season.

However, Oliver Glasner’s men aren’t in their best moment either, winless in four having drawn successive blanks.

Liverpool to win, 2-1.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Liverpool have won none of their last three games against Palace, while they have not beaten them at all at Anfield since 2021.

Their last League Cup meeting came 20 years ago, when then European champions Liverpool lost 2-1 at Selhurst Park in the third round.
