Liverpool vs Chelsea to be free-to-air on Sky TV channel Pick on night Reds lift Premier League trophy

Liverpool’s match against Chelsea on 22 July will be broadcast live on free-to-air television in the UK, Sky Sports has announced, on what will be the day the Reds lift the Premier League trophy.

The Anfield game will be shown on Sky’s free-to-air channel Pick, which can be accessed free via Freeview and Now TV, as will the subsequent trophy presentation on the pitch in what will be a stadium without fans due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Liverpool will be celebrating their 19th top-flight league title and their first for 30 years after Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated the division. They need to win their final three games of the season to set a new Premier League points record, surpassing Manchester City’s total of 100 in 2017-18.

Chelsea have their own ambitions and are in a battle to finish in the top four with a fading Leicester City and a resurgent Manchester United.

Rob Webster, Sky Sports managing director said: “We are delighted to make this occasion free to air in the UK. Liverpool v Chelsea is always one of the Premier League’s most eagerly anticipated fixtures, and now more viewers than ever before will have the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by what will unfold in front of them on Wednesday 22nd July.

“On this occasion, because of the unprecedented times we decided to make this blockbuster Premier League fixture free to air, and for Liverpool fans to have the chance to see the lifting of the Premier League trophy.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said: “We were pleased to secure a third of Premier League matches on free to view TV so fans could all enjoy this season like no other. Sky Sports deciding to broadcast this match is brilliant for Liverpool fans who will now get to see their players lift the trophy. I’d like to thank Sky Sports for opening up this unforgettable occasion to fans.”
