Liverpool vs Burnley prediction: Sadio Mane tipped to score first at Anfield

Sean Dyche is no stranger to how much of a task Burnley has against Liverpool.

Despite being champions, Liverpool do have an added desire to break a number of records - including the Man City's points tally - which will mean Burnley face the tough task of cancelling out Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.

"We are in good form. It will take maximum performance, focus and game understanding and hopefully they will have a quieter day because when they turn up it is very difficult.

"Even with the power of the players and the manager they have got it is very difficult to win the Premier League.

"It is difficult to win titles or get promotions.

"I have absolute respect for the manner and style in which they have achieved it."

However, Dyche has played down the significance on his side breaking their points target.

He added: "Not as important in that I prefer the team to be playing well.

"If you finish the season and have a good points tally on the board then that is great.

"If we can challenge it this season I think it will be a big achievement with what has gone on with different things lately.

"The first marker is to still be in the Premier League, that is the obvious one for Burnley Football Club, beyond that how high can you take it.

"Equally, are we taking it on performances. I think this season, about from quite a powerful blip, then I think it has been a strong season from the players and lately a super-strong season with all the challenges."

Recommended bets:

  • Liverpool to win 3-1 - 10/1
  • Sadio Mane to score first - 16/5

Win, lose or draw?

Burnley are unbeaten in four and have impressed but a trip to Liverpool is as tough as it comes and I can't see the Clarets upsetting the odds. 3-1.

Who will score first?

Sadio Mane has a good goalscoring record against Burnley in recent games while from Burnley's point of view Jay Rodriguez has looked sharp since the restart with two goals in four games.

Who is on penalty duty?

Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood share penalty duties at Burnley but both have been injured, the latter could return at Anfield and will take the responsibility.

Will the side keep a clean sheet?

Burnley and Nick Pope have kept 14 clean sheets this season so it is not beyond them but Liverpool's firepower up front will likely mean they breach the Clarets defence.

Will the lack of fans help or hinder the club?

Burnley will hope the absence of that Anfield atmosphere can play in to their hands.
