Liverpool vs Brighton – as it happened: Mohamed Salah goal clinches all three points for the hosts
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side will be looking to uphold their unbeaten start with a third clean sheet of the season against Chris Hughton’s Brighton & Hove Albion.
Kloop will be looking towards his new backline in order to maintain what has been a perfect start to the campaign. This game shows promise of a goal-fest as the aggregate score between these two sides last season was 9-1 in Liverpool's favour.
The last meeting between these two sides saw Liverpool completely dominate, keeping 72 per cent possession and making 728 passes compared to Brighton’s 249.
Two wins in as many games has put Liverpool into second place in the Premier League, but the side now have the chance to go top after City were held to a 1-1 draw at Wolves.
The hosts have not been at their sizzling best today, but unlike their title rivals Manchester City, they did enough to wrap up the game thanks to a moment of magic from Mo Salah, thus continuing their 100 per cent start to the season.
Brighton will be disappointed with the manner in which they conceded the goal, but they could, and maybe should, have been level through Pascal Gross.
89 min: Pascal Gross thinks he is the Brighton hero, but Alisson dives to his left to prevent the German, who takes the pace off Montoya's cross with his header, from nodding in the equaliser.
What a relief for Liverpool. Another big chance goes begging for Brighton though
85 min: Brighton have managed to stop Liverpool's rhythm for a large part of this half, and in an attempt to break themselves they are halted by a handball from Pascal Gross.
80 min: Liverpool have allowed complacency settle in in the last ten minutes, and goalkeeper Alisson nearly pays for it with Glenn Murray again looking to nip in and steal the ball from the Brazilian.
67 min: First change for Liverpool as Naby Keita, who has had his first quiet game in a Liverpool shirt, is withdrawn and captain Jordan Henderson replaces the former Leipzig man.
59 min : Another penalty appeal, and referee Kavanagh gets this one right. Defender Shane Duffy had very little time to take his hand out of the way of Salah's shot, despite the Kop's bellows.
Bissouma balloons his clearance up in the air, and that sees a number of players flood the box, but a foul is given against Firmino for his challenge on Ryan.
Naby Keita gives the ball away and that sees Glenn Murray eventually enter the area. He seems to be crowded out but fathoms a ball to the former Leicester man, but he cannot wrap his foot around the shot and the Anfield faithful breathe easy again
