Liverpool vs Brighton prediction: Brighton's error-prone defence perfect for Mo Salah

Liverpool thrashed Manchester United at Old Trafford, got their revenge over Watford and now have the chance to set the record straight at home when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Reds are the heavy favourites at 2/9 with Grosvenor Sport while Brighton are 11/1 longshots and a draw is 23/4.

Jurgen Klopp's side will be on cloud nine at the moment with a 100% start in the Champions League, unbeaten in the Premier League and are through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Not only that but they return to Anfield for the first time since thrashing Man United 5-0 at Old Trafford last weekend.

The atmosphere will be electric and will be looking for revenge against Brighton after they managed to get a win in Merseyside last season thanks to Steven Alzate's winner.

Klopp's men already got their revenge at Watford after losing their unbeaten run in their title-winning season the last time they met the Hertfordshire side and all factors point to another big win as Brighton continue to make mistake after mistake in defence.

Team stats

The Reds average scoring 3.07 goals per game while Brighton average just 1.33 with the hosts scoring at least three or more goals in nine of their last 11 matches in all competitions which is why I'm backing Liverpool to score 2.5 goals at 19/20.

Liverpool have finished seven of their matches in all competitions with zero bookings and a repeat of that is 41/20 while Brighton average two-per-game (over 1.5 cards for the visitors is 10/13 with Grosvenor Sport )

Players to watch

Mo Salah is a man possessed with the Egyptian international finding the net 17 times already in all competitions plus five assists in the Premier League too.

The winger picked up a hat-trick last weekend and a goal would mean he has scored in eight consecutive Premier League matches - Jamie Vardy holds the record with 11 during Leicester City's title-winning season.

Meanwhile, Brighton will be looking at captain Lewis Dunk to set the standard as the defender still manages to put in a string of performances that make Brighton fans wonder why he rarely features in the national setup.

His goal line clearance against Man City will go down as one of the best pieces of defending in the league's history.

H2H

This will be the 34th meeting between the two sides with Liverpool having the superior overall record with 19 wins, 9 draws and five defeats.

The Albion managed to get four points from a possible six last season including a 1-0 win at Anfield.

Before that defeat last season, the Reds were on a 12-match unbeaten record against the Sussex-based club.
