Liverpool vs Brentford prediction and odds: Diogo Jota backed to score after Carabao Cup disappointment

A win is the absolute minimum for Liverpool as they look to continue to mount a title challenge in the Premier League when they face Brentford.

The Reds are favourites at 27/100 with Grosvenor Sport while Brentford are 21/2 and a draw is 5/1.

Jurgen Klopp's side will still have Naby Keita, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah unavailable as they continue their international duties in the African Cup of Nations.

The hosts were crying for a finisher in their Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal and will be looking for improvement after the goalless draw midweek.

Brentford, meanwhile, will be looking to improve on their away form having failed to pick up three points on the road since October.

The Bees have picked up three defeats in their last four league outings so changing that form at Anfield will be a tough ask.

Player to watch

Diogo Jota would have been incredibly frustrated after the Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal.

I backed him to score and it looked like he was going to before Granit Xhaka decided he wanted an early bath.

He had opportunities after that but that was the big chance to give the Reds the lead in the semi-final so he will be keen to make sure that was nothing more than a minor blip in form.

H2H

This will be the 17th meeting between the two sides with Liverpool picking up nine wins, four draws and three defeats.

Earlier this season, the sides were involved in a six-goal thriller at the Brentford Community Stadium.
