Liverpool vs Aston Villa prediction: Salah to punish Villains after Villa Park humiliation

Liverpool are the favourites here at 1/2 with Betfred but their home form and last time out against 11/2 Aston Villa it was far from what was expected.

The 7-2 thrashing to the Villains at Villa Park was a sign of what was to come for Jurgen Klopp's side this season - and this was before the injury setbacks for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

There's also the slight issue of Liverpool losing their last six home games in the Premier League - far from the fortress form we are used to at Anfield.

The Reds have kept just three clean sheets in 12 league matches however they do seem to getting their rhythm back, only taken 30 league matches but still.

The lack of Jack Grealish will limit Villa's attacking threat but Liverpool's failure to sort out their defensive problems in the league has become slightly more than something you can sleep on but close to a pandemic.

Tips

  • Both teams to score - 8/11
  • Mo Salah to score two or more goals - 3/1

Both sides to score at 8/11 seems to be the right way to go. For Villa, it could be a number of players but I'm convinced Mo Salah will be on the scoresheet today.

The Egyptian king has scored three times in his last four games and has had plenty of chances to triple that number too.

He will be more than a handful for the likes of Tyrone Mings today and a win putting the Reds potentially back into the top four is more than enough motivation for these lads.
