Liverpool player ratings vs Arsenal - Fabinho and Jordan Henderson lead midfield domination

Adrian 7

One miscommunication with Van Dijk led to a chance for Aubameyang, but made vital save to deny Pepe. Safe handling second half.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Saw a lot of the ball as a regular outlet down the right, but deliveries were inconsistent until plonking a corner on Matip's head for the first. Enjoyed himself after break.

Joel Matip 9

Worked hard to deal with Aubameyang – chasing him down to prevent one second-half chance – and popped up with a bullet header for the opener. Impressive.

Virgil van Dijk 8

Passed once by Pepe, who was so surprised he forgot to take the ball. A proper tussle with the Arsenal man the centre-back ended up comprehensively winning. Even did a slide tackle – such a rarity.

Andy Robertson 7

Almost put Firmino in with a cross in the opening minutes. Lacked precision in deliveries first half but made up for it after the break.

Fabinho 8

Got away with one blind pass and being clobbered by Xhaka in opening exchanges, but soon helped Liverpool control midfield. Brilliant pass sparked Salah's second. Booked.

Gini Wijnaldum 7

Work-rate immense and was able to show his strength on occasion, and one piece of excellent skill after the break. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson 8

Deserved his escape after loose possession set Pepe clear first half with a driving performance going forward and some good tackles.

Mohamed Salah 9

A few slack touches early on but destroyed Luiz in the second half, winning and converting the penalty for the second and losing the centre-back and racing away for the third.

Roberto Firmino 8

Always a threat, as Arsenal know better than most. Wowed the crowd with one ridiculous piece of skill, and continued to find pockets with his pass finding Salah for the penalty.

Sadio Mane 7

Started lively and buzzed in and around the Arsenal area throughout. Sent a header over before interval and kept the visiting defence honest.

James Milner (for Wijnaldum 69) 7

Crunched into a few challenges and mopped up when required.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Mane 77)

Win bonus.

Adam Lallana (for Firmino 85)

If part of his contract, he too shall gain extra reward for featuring in this Liverpool victory.
