Liverpool video intelligence platform LivingLens bought by US tech giant Medallia for $26m

A Liverpool video intelligence platform has been bought by US tech giant Medallia for $26m.

The acquisition of Baltic Triangle company LivingLens has this week been announced by the customer experience management firm, based in San Francisco.

Claiming to give "unmatched insight", LivingLens uses video feedback to help companies across a variety of sectors better understand their product, customer and employee experiences.

Its customers include O2, Populus and CrowdLab.

Carl Wong, co-founder and CEO of LivingLens, told BusinessLive: "My team and I are absolutely delighted to be part of such a forward-thinking, exciting organisation.

"We remain committed to delivering value for Consumer Insight and Customer Experience teams, and this acquisition provides improved capabilities to accelerate that.

"Our customers are going to benefit from our greater level of resource, our capabilities and our ability to accelerate our roadmap in areas such as data science, humanizing feedback and servicing insights. We remain committed to consumer insight and, of course, customer experience."

The acquisition of the firm that has offices in Liverpool, London, New York and Toronto, is expected to close in February.

Medallia captures voice of the customer feedback across web, social and mobile channels. Its software services run across a variety of sectors including hospitality, retail, financial, and business-to-business.

Mr Wong added: "Companies across a number of industries all use video feedback to better understand their product, customer and employee experiences in live-time.

"We are thrilled to become part of the Medallia family and provide our customers with the world-class customer insights they need to transform their businesses.

"My co-founder David and I set out six years ago to make it easy and compelling to work with video at scale for insight-led organisations. Along the way, we’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing people and amazing customers.

"We are hugely impressed by the calibre, commitment and culture of the people who make up Medallia, and the technology is awe-inspiring.

"Because of this, we are massively excited about joining forces with Medallia and driving the business forwards in 2020."
