It's been billed as a potential title-decider - in November - such is the quality of the two sides in opposition.
And while whatever happens at Anfield won't mathematically decide anything, psychologically it could massively damage one team's prospects.
We asked our Liverpool correspondent Paul Gorst for his take on what we're in for at Anfield on Sunday.
Win, lose or draw?
Score draw. Liverpool won't be able to win the title on Sunday, but victory would be a huge step forward to open up a nine-point gap on their visitors.
As such, Man City simply can't afford to lose this one and the Reds will be happy enough to preserve the status quo, I feel. 1-1. The draw is a great price at 12/5 with thepools.com while the 1-1 correct score is a big 11/2 .
Who's a good bet for first scorer?
Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling are the City hot-shots this term but neither enjoy their time at Anfield. Surely that has to end sometime? Sterling is a decent bet for City, he's 11/2 to score first and 17/10 to score at any time on Sunday, but my money is going on Sadio Mane, for Liverpool. Perhaps it will be the former Reds man who evens things up? He's an 8/5 any time scorer .
Who's on pens?
Mo Salah. He scored a crucial one against Spurs recently and will be on spot-kick duty once more this Sunday. He's 9/2 first scorer and 7/5 any time .
Will Liverpool keep a clean sheet?
No. Liverpool's clean sheets have dried up this season, despite their impressive string of results. I don't think they will keep out City on Sunday, either. Both Teams To Score is 1/2 .
Yellow card?
Fabinho or Fernandinho. Both Brazilians pick up their fair share cautions. The Liverpool man will miss the trip to Crystal Palace later this month if carded, but he was rested last week at Villa to give him the chance to star in this one. Either of those are good bets for bookings.
