Liverpool urged to strengthen two positions in the January transfer window

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes that Jurgen Klopp could still need to add two more attacking options to his squad in the January transfer window.

The Reds announced the signing of Red Bull Leipzig attacker Takumi Minamino earlier this month.

The 23-year-old will arrive at Anfield once the transfer window opens, having sealed a deal after Liverpool triggered a £7.25m release clause in his contract.

However, former striker Heskey believes that Klopp could still add a central striker and a winger to boost his squad depth, to avoid any long-term problems should Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah sustain an injury.

Heskey, who was speaking on behalf of GentingBet, told the ECHO: "I think they're pretty set for the rest of the season but I think they might need another striker and also a dynamic winger.

"If they were to lose Salah or Mane, they don't really have that dynamic winger like they're used to.

"If you look at City, they lose Sane, who is injured at the minute and they have Mahrez.

"If they lost him they've got (Bernardo) Silva so they always have someone as back up."
