Liverpool urged to sign Kylian Mbappe if they want to dominate European football

Djibril Cisse has urged Liverpool to do all they can to sign Kylian Mbappe, insisting the World Cup winner would guarantee domestic and European dominance at Anfield.

The Reds continue to be linked with the French superstar, who is out of contract in 2022, with reports suggesting that they would be one of the front-runners for his signature when he does decide to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

Scoring 111 goals from 153 appearances in four seasons with the Parisiens, the 22-year-old made fresh headlines this week after refusing to commit his future to the club after scoring a breath-taking hat-trick against Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Champions League.

And Cisse, who became Liverpool ’s record signing when joining the club from Auxerre in 2004, had admitted he would love to see his compatriot make the same move to Anfield.

“I would love to see him at Liverpool,” the Frenchman told the ECHO. “He is the kind of player who could do extremely well in England and extremely well at Liverpool.

“He would be a really exciting player for the fans. Everytime he has the ball, you know something is going to happen.

“I would love to see him in that Red shirt. He would be a nightmare for the defenders (in the Premier League).

“He’s the kind of player who can bring you consistency in the Premier League and Champions League. You can rely on a player like this. He is rarely injured and he’s a good boy.

“He’s the kind of player Liverpool should do their utmost to try and sign.”

Djibril Cisse was speaking to William Hill.
