Liverpool unveil plan for fans return to Anfield with supporters' ballot scheme

Liverpool are planning to welcome fans back to Anfield for the Wolves game, on December 6.

And the Reds have unveiled a ballot scheme to allocate tickets, where 1,500 supporters who live in the Liverpool city region - and are either a season ticket holder or a current official member - can apply.

The club will strongly encourage all fans who attend the game to take advantage of the mass testing programme in the city, and take a Covid-19 test before they attend.

In talks with the city council, Merseyside police and fans groups, the club has created a plan for fans to return to Anfield under a new set of guidelines designed to keep the local community, players, staff and emergency services safe, which is due to be ratified next week.

In a statement, the club revealed that it will offer 75 per cent of the 2,000 tickets which will be available for the Wolves game to open admission, which is in line with the ratio used when the stadium is at full capacity.

“A minimum of 75% of the 2,000 tickets available for the Wolves fixture will be used for general admission, which is aligned to the ratio used when the stadium is at full capacity,” the statement read.

“The remaining tickets will be allocated to hospitality supporters, players and to meet contractual obligations.

"Only Anfield's Main Stand will be in use for the Wolves fixture.”

Only fans who live with the Liverpool city region can apply for the ballot, and they must be a season ticket holder, or a current member with 19 credits from the 2018/19 season.

In addition, the club wants all those who attend to undergo a Covid test.

Anfield’s Kop bar will continue to be one of the city’s mass testing centres and will be open on match days…allowing fans to get a rapid test with results delivered in half an hour.

The Premier League is set to ratify their supporter return schemes next week, with most clubs allowed 2,000 fans in the stadium, though some in tier 3, in the Manchester and midlands regions, will continue with empty stadiums, under the Government’s rules for their tier system.

Liverpool have announced a new code of conduct for all fans attending games, and will require them to sign a health declaration before admission.

In addition, they will also launch a paperless ticket system using mobile phone technology.
