Liverpool line up v Oldham Athletic confirmed as Harvey Elliott & Sepp van den Berg start in EFL Trophy

Summer signings Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg are the standout names in the starting line-up for Liverpool's EFL Trophy opener tonight.

The new arrivals have been named in Neil Critchley's under-21s side for the group game at League Two side Oldham Athletic.

Elliott and Van den Berg are among several youngsters involved who featured for the first team during pre-season.

Daniel Atherton is in goal, with Van den Berg joined at centre-back by Morgan Boyes. Yasser Larouci is left-back and Neco Williams on the opposite flank.

Bobby Duncan starts up front, with Elliott likely to be on the right and Curtis Jones on the left of the forward line.

The three-man midfield is made up of Adam Lewis, Pedro Chirivella and Isaac Christie-Davies.

Among Oldham's starting XI is former Manchester United man Chris Eagles, who is 33.
