Liverpool U18s set pulses racing in scintillating eight-goal domination at start of new season

Liverpool U18s made a sensational start to their Premier League 2019/20 campaign against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The young Reds dominated the match, putting seven goals past the home side with just one coming back in reply.

Layton Stewart opened the scoring for Barry Lewtas' side, heading home a Jake Cain corner spilled by Jordan Eastham in the Blackburn net.

Their lead doubled through Tom Hill who scored with his head after following up a strike from Matteo Ritaccio and Liverpool headed into the break 2-0 up.

Blackburn rallied early in the second half and pulled one back through Jared Horlock but James Balagizi quickly restored the young Reds' two-goal advantage after slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Then a perfectly weighted pass from Cain found Balagizi and the striker sweetly made it four.

It was a brilliant team goal for Liverpool U18s fifth and Cain was involved again, this time sweeping the ball into the back of the net after an excellent spell of keep ball.

Stewart and Hill both scored again late on to see the game end 7-1 to the young Reds.
