Liverpool U18s hammer Everton U18s in seven-goal Merseyside mini-derby

Liverpool under-18s beat Everton 6-1 in the Merseyside mini-derby at Finch Farm.

The young Blues scored first through Tyler Onyango who forced a corner home and the home side hit the post twice in the first-half, putting the young Reds under real pressure.

However, late in the opening 45 minutes two goals in quick succession from Fidel O'Rourke and Layton Stewart saw Barry Lewtas' men turn the game on its head.

Paul Tait's men then seemed to capitulate in the second half after an own goal from Reece Welch, who deflected a cross into his own net, made it 3-1 to Liverpool just before the hour mark.

Jake Cain slotted one home before another own goal from goalkeeper Jack McIntyre who made a brilliant save only for Leighton Clarkson to fire the rebound back across goal, which hit the Blues number one and ended up it the back of the net.

Substitute Tyler Morton then fired home Liverpool's sixth and final goal, sidefooting the ball into the bottom corner after a lay off from Niall Brookwell.
