Liverpool U18s captain Paul Glatzel signs first professional contract

Liverpool youngster Paul Glatzel has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The Scouse striker, who celebrates his 18th birthday today, has been with the Reds’ academy since joining at U9s level.

After enduring an injury-plagued 2017-18, Glatzel was handed the U18s captaincy ahead of this campaign by boss Barry Lewtas.

And that decision has been rewarded with a string of goals and fine performances from the teenage forward this term.

Glatzel has struck up a prolific partnership with Bobby Duncan under Lewtas, with the pair leading an assault on the FA Youth Cup that will continue against Bury next month.

Born in Liverpool to German parents, the 18-year-old has played for both England and Germany internationally.
