Liverpool trophy parade: Champions League heroes celebrate with over 750,000 fans in Liverpool city centre

Liverpool's Champions League heroes were greeted by an estimated 750,000 supporters as they paraded their European crown through the streets of Merseyside.

The Reds were still fresh from the 2-0 win over Tottenham at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid on Saturday night thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.

It was their first Champions League title since their triumph against AC Milan in Istanbul 14 years and their sixth European Cup in total.

After arriving at Liverpool's John Lennon Airport on Sunday morning, Jurgen Klopp and his squad posed for photos before boarding the team bus and departing for the city centre.

Three buses were hired to carry the players, the coaching staff and the club's media department as they made their way through the streets of Liverpool.

They were met by thousands of fans who had come out to celebrate the club's triumph, with fans bringing red-coloured smoke bombs despite a warning from the club about banning pyrotechnics.

The route started at Allerton Maze and the buses then travelled northbound on Queens Drive towards the Fiveways roundabout and Rocket flyover.

From there, it cruised along Queens Drive, Mill Bank, West Derby Road, Islington, Leeds Street and The Strand before finishing at Blundell Street.

Jordan Henderson and James Milner were among those who made their presence known, banging the side of the bus as fans brought out pyrotechnics and confetti to celebrate their victory with the players.
