Liverpool will kick off the new season at Norwich a month from today and manager Jurgen Klopp may well bolster his squad for the opener.
It’s the summer, it’s pre-season and so that means a whole host of names have been linked with Reds.
Here, we look at some of the latest rumours surrounding possible moves to Anfield…
Who?
Saul Niguez
Where?
What?
The Spanish sports paper published in Barcelona say the Catalan giants are keen to sign the Atletico Madrid but also claim Liverpool have actually made a bid for Saul. That’s right, an actual bid.
Mundo Deportivo say the the Reds have offered 40million euros (£34m) but Atleti are holding out for 50million euros (£43m).
Diego Simeone’s men announced the signing of midfielder Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese this week and so Saul could now fall down the pecking order at the Wanda Metripolitano and further still, out of the exit door.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool offer the cash required if they are indeed pushing ahead to land Saul or whether Barca will get their man, having offered up the possibility of a swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann.
Who?
Marko Grujic
Where?
Sport Witness via Record
What?
Liverpool, Marko Grujic and Porto are reportedly all happy for the Serbian to join the Portuguese giants.
So what’s the hold up? The asking price.
According to Record, Porto are balking at the Reds £14m valuation of the midfielder.
While Grujic is currently with Liverpool at the club’s Austrian training camp, it seems he will soon move on. Joining the club in 2016, he has been sent out on loan four times. It was last season the Serb made 23 league appearances for Porto.
Whether they manage to strike a deal to take him permanently remains to be seen.
Who?
Kostas Tsimikas
Where?
What?
The Italian football journalist claims the Greek left-back has interest from Spain but believes Liverpool want to keep the defender.
“I have to tell you that he had some interest from Spain, Tsimikas, they were talking to him,” Romano told Anfield Watch.
“They were trying to sign him but Liverpool wanted to protect the player, they say that they trust him, so at the moment there is nothing advanced for him leaving the club.”
Tsimikas made only seven appearances last season and is certainly second in command to Andrew Robertson. However, squad depth is everything and so it would be sensible to keep the defender.
