Liverpool took a step towards re-establishing their title credentials at the weekend after having been overlooked by many pundits.
The lack of big-money signings, with Ibrahima Konate the only new arrival, caused some to have doubts over whether Jurgen Klopp’s side could mount a challenge this term.
However, their emphatic win against Norwich showed the quality that remains within the team, as well as demonstrating their squad depth with most players back to full fitness.
The Reds continue to be linked with a host of names every day though and we have rounded up all the latest rumours.
Who?
Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Where?
Sport1 , via the Daily Star.
What?
Haaland is one of the most clinical strikers in world football and has been backed for a move to Liverpool by former Borussia Dortmund star Michael Rummenigge.
The Reds have recently been tentatively linked with signing Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer in 2022, as well as Haaland in recent months.
Asked where the Norwegian striker could end up, Rummenigge said: “We’ll have to wait and see where he goes after this season.
“Real and Barca have financial problems, so I could imagine him moving to England. His father used to play there too.
“I could well imagine Liverpool for Haaland. Haaland is an exceptional phenomenon.”
Having scored 42 goals in 44 league games since joining Dortmund in January 2020, Liverpool would face tough competition for his signature, with Haaland believed to be on a lot of clubs’ radars for next summer.
Who?
Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni.
Where?
What?
Liverpool have been linked with a long list of midfielders this summer since Gini Wijnaldum left for PSG.
However, the report suggests that 21-year-old Tchouameni would be available for around £25m, despite having three years left on his contract.
Last season was something of a breakout year for the midfielder and it’s easy to see why as he ranked 2nd across Europe’s top five leagues for tackles and topped the chart for the combined number of tackles and interceptions.
Young and with a high ceiling, if Liverpool could seal a deal for Tchouameni, it would look to be a good long-term move for the club.
Who?
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Where?
Via his agent on Twitter.
What?
Mohamed Salah’s agent got fans talking on Twitter once again on Tuesday night as he posted about his client.
A seemingly innocuous photo of a signed Liverpool shirt and Salah print carried the caption “The wonder.”
However, given Ramy Abbas Issa’s previous cryptic tweet seemingly directed at Liverpool’s owners just as Salah scored his first goal of the season on Saturday, it is enough to suggest that this could be more of the same.
It’s understood that the Egyptian winger is currently in contract negotiations with the club, with the Reds looking to extend the deals of most of their key senior players.
Although, having posted again on social media, it’s hard to gauge whether the latest tweet means negotiations have moved in the right direction or merely stayed the same.
Supporters will be hoping it is the former.
