Liverpool transfers - Divock Origi 'in talks to leave' this month, Ismaila Sarr latest

Though the transfer window closed in England on Tuesday, Liverpool continue to be linked with players either leaving the club or reporting how strong their interest was in potential targets.

The Reds ended the summer with Ibrahima Konate as their only summer signing from RB Leipzig, with both Gini Wijnaldum and Xherdan among those who headed for the exit door.

Despite the domestic window being closed earlier this week, the transfer market is still ongoing in Russia and Turkey, offering a potential route for any outgoings.

With a packed fixture list in December and facing the prospect of losing Naby Keita, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah during the African Cup of Nations the following month, Jurgen Klopp may be tempted to strengthen in January.

Who?

Divock Origi

Where?

Fotospor

What?

The Belgian striker has emerged as a target for Fenerbache, with the Turkish transfer window not closing until September 8.

Origi has slid down Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order in recent seasons, following the arrival of Diogo Jota and rise of Harvey Elliott. The 26-year-old played only 180 minutes of Premier league action last season, after featuring 28 times in the Reds’ title-winning campaign.

However, the Turkish side are reported to be offering the striker a fresh start, with Fotospor claiming that “talks are progressing very quickly”.

Having been tentatively linked with Premier League clubs throughout the summer, no move materialised for the forward on deadline day, who has not featured in the club’s last two matchday squads.

Who?

Ismaila Sarr

Where?

Goal

What?

The Watford winger was a name linked with a big-money move to Anfield throughout the summer, having been a previous target for Jurgen Klopp.

A move for the Senegal international was always unlikely, with the newly-promoted Hornets unwilling to sell their star forward, who contributed 23 combined goals and assists in the Championship last season.

Goal have reported that the 23-year-old was on the Reds’ transfer radar, alongside Leicester’s Harvey Barnes and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, but the club failed to follow up on their interest.

The departure of Xherdan Shaqiri to Lyon, alongside Origi’s diminished playing time, led some Liverpool fans to believe that a wide forward would be on Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist, but the emergence of Harvey Elliott has provided the German coach with an extra option.

Who?

Federico Chiesa

Where?

HITC

What?

It was claimed by Italian media that Liverpool had made an outlandish £86m bid for the Juventus winger earlier this summer and his name continues to be linked with the club.

Currently on international duty, the winger scored a fantastic goal for his country on Thursday night against Bulgaria, as he rounded four players before firing low from outside the box.

HITC reported that his performance led to Liverpool fans calling on the club to make signing Chiesa a priority when the transfer market reopens.

Chiesa was a key figure of Roberto Mancini’s side that guided Italy to Euro 2020 glory and the 23-year-old is a top prospect within European football.
