Liverpool are set to loan out Ben Woodburn again this summer with a number of domestic and foreign clubs chasing the Wales international’s signature.
The 20-year-old spent last season with Oxford United but was limited to 16 appearances as two separate broken foot injuries curtailed his campaign, having been recalled midway through a tough temporary move to Sheffield United the year before.
However, the Reds are believed to be impressed by the impact Woodburn ’s time with the U’s had on the player, both physically and mentally, including how he matured at the Kassam Stadium and how he used his time during lockdown to completely recover from injury.
Now fully fit, Liverpool staff are understood to have been struck by how a good a physical condition the playmaker has returned in, believing he’s never looked better, and have made it a priority to find him the right club to continue his development and build on his good work next season.
The ECHO understands that the Reds have received a number of approaches for the midfielder, including one from 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf, with clubs from England, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands among those also showing interest.
Liverpool are yet to make a decision about Woodburn’s next destination but are now in the process of ensuring his next loan move is the right one for both the player and the club.
