Liverpool transfer target Nabil Fekir 'wanted by AC Milan' in summer swoop

Liverpool transfer target Nabil Fekir is also attracting interest from AC Milan according to reports in Italy.

The Lyon attacker was on the verge of moving to the Reds last summer, only for the France international to fail a medical which led to the £53m switch to collapse.

The 25-year-old later disputed the Champions League winners' fears over his long-term fitness regarding a knee issue, instead insisting it was 'super good'.

Fekir has had a mixed season for the Ligue 1 giants as they finished third, some 19 point adrift of champions Paris Saint-Germain.

That, though, has not put Jurgen Klopp off returning with a deal for the Lyon skipper, but it seems the Anfield club may have a battle on their hands to land their man.

CalcioMercato.com claim that Milan are also eager to complete a deal said to be worth £26.7m, just over half of what the Reds were willing to pay for the 25-year-old last summer.

The Italian heavyweights are set for a huge overhaul of their squad in the coming weeks as new boss Marco Giampaolo aims to restore the Rossoneri to their former glories.

The San Siro outfit are close to bringing in Theo Hernandez on loan from Real Madrid , while Milan are also interested in signing Arsenal's Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira.

After netting just 55 times in 38 league games last term, the Rossoneri want to bolster their attack and see Fekir as the ideal player to do that.

Though he missed out on a move last summer, Fekir is set to depart Lyon in the current transfer window after eight years with the club.

Club president Jean-Michael Aulas said earlier this month: "Nabil's preference is towards a departure. We are open to discussions.

"We have no news. We are waiting for proposals in the coming days but for the moment we do not have any."
