Liverpool transfer rumours rated - Kylian Mbappe now a 'priority' signing for Jurgen Klopp

The task of beating Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday will be the only thing on Jurgen Klopp's mind at the minute.

However, the transfer rumour mill is still in full flow and certain names refuse to go away when it comes to being linked with the Reds.

Kylian Mbappe

Who?

World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe has been constantly linked to Liverpool. The 20-year-old Frenchman has already become one of hottest properties in world football.

Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco for a fee of €180million and has already won two league titles.

Where?

Eldesmarque claim Liverpool will make Mbappe a "priority signing" next summer. They claim Real Madrid are also keen on the Frenchman but know they face obstacles if they are to sign him.

The report suggests the Reds are desperate to sign the striker and also claims because they could afford him after as they didn't spend big last summer.

What?

The Frenchman said back in May, that he wished to shoulder more responsibility, either with his current employers or "elsewhere, for a new project."

This was music to the ears of those fuelling the rumour mill.

However, the practicality of Liverpool signing Mbappe was assessed for the ECHO by football finance reporter Dean Rudge yesterday. It's fair to say he thinks it's very unlikely the Reds would blow their financial structure out of the water in order to gain the striker's signature.

Rodrygo

Who?

Brazilian forward Rodrygo scored a 'perfect' hat-trick for Real Madrid in their Champions League tie against Galatasaray on Wednesday. The 18-year-old became the second youngest player to score a Champions League treble and has been dubbed 'the new Neymar'.

Where?

Rodrygo's former coach Elano told ESPN that Liverpool were keen on the Brazilian before he signed for the Spanish giants but the Reds didn't offer enough money.

He said: "There was a period when there was very strong interest from Liverpool for him to leave when he was still at base.

"The values were very low, but they wanted to have a go. Real’s offer afterwards was around €30m more! I had a conversation with the staff and said the boy was worth the bet."

What?

Whether Liverpool were interested in Rodrygo in 2018 or not, there's very little chance he'll end up at the Reds now he's scoring hat-tricks at the Bernabeu.

Memphis Depay

Who?

Dutch international Memphis Depay is currently plying his trade with French side Lyon. The forward spent two seasons at Manchester United and despite not flourishing for the Red Devils, has prospered since his move away from Old Trafford.

Where?

Reports in Italy from Calciomercato claim Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will both make a move for the player with his current contract set to expire in 2021.

What?

The Dutchman has 14 goals in 17 appearances this season and would certainly be a good option on a free transfer. However, he'd perhaps struggle to unseat any of Liverpool's front three and may want guarantees over playing time.

Maxi Gomez

Who?

Valencia forward and Uruguayan international Maxi Gomez has five goals in 15 games this season.

Where?

Another one from Calciomercato who claim Liverpool have started to monitor Gomez’s progress at Valencia ahead of a potential move for the player.

They report the Reds were particularly impressed by the 23-year-old's stats - one goal every 2.4 attempts.

What?

The striker was on West Ham’s radar in the summer before signing a five-year contract with Valencia after leaving Celta Vigo.

Gomez has a €140million release clause so any club interested would have to stump a serious amount of money.
