Liverpool transfer rumours rated - Domenico Berardi, Timo Werner, Ryan Sessegnon

The smoke has barely settled on the post-season fireworks, but attentions are quickly turning to the transfer window.

The 2019 summer window opens, you may be surprised to learn, on Thursday, less than a week after a final day of the season that saw Liverpool miss out on the title by just a point.

However, work will be ongoing behind the scenes at Anfield, despite the looming prospect of the Champions League final in Madrid on June 1.

Here's what's happening on the rumour mill on Tuesday.

Timo Werner

Who? Germany international striker Timo Werner has been regularly linked with Liverpool over the past 18 months or so. RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff hinted the No.9 might favour a move to Liverpool over Bayern Munich this summer.

Where? "The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension," he told Sky, cited by  BuliNews . "But that could change. I don’t think it’s completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. We haven’t talked to Bayern Munich about Timo Werner yet. Maybe he doesn’t even want to go to Munich. Maybe he would rather join Tuchel in Paris,  Klopp  at Liverpool or Favre at Dortmund."

What? Liverpool are likely to be in the market for a new forward this summer. Daniel Sturridge is expected to leave and the long-term future of Divock Origi remains unclear, Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers unsurprised by Divock Origi's emergence as Jurgen Klopp's Anfield hero in a Liverpool shirt. Werner is a name often cited on the rumour mill. Despite the high hopes for Rhian Brewster, Klopp might be interested if a reasonable price is named.

Liverpool's biggest surprise of the season - and the individuals that defined their Premier League campaign

Domenico Berardi

Who? Italy international forward Domenico Berardi has flatly admitted he would favour a move to Anfield.

Where? In an interview with Gazetta dello Sport, the 24-year-old made no bones about his desire to move to Liverpool, should he leave Sassuolo this summer. "If an offer arrives, be it from Milan or another club, I will evaluate it with my club," he said. "Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool. Changing remains difficult for me, but it no longer frightens me, I would do it."

What? A relatively new name on the rumour mill. Liverpool are unlikely to be moving for the Italian when the window opens.

Ryan Sessegnon

Who? Fulham's versatile teenager Ryan Sessegnon has been a name regularly linked with Liverpool over the past two years.

Where? The Reds have repeatedly named in connection with the talented teen, but the Daily Mail have reported that talks are already underway between Fulham and Tottenham. The recently-relegated Cottagers value Sessegnon at £40million - but Spurs want to pay closer to £25million, according to the report.

What? With the Reds having sewn up their left-back spot for years to come with the signing of Andy Robertson, a big-money move for Sessegnon would appear unlikely this summer. However, with Alberto Moreno set to leave the club, the Reds will need another left-sided defender. Sessegnon would offer the ability to play in a number of roles and is young enough to develop significantly under Klopp.
