Liverpool transfer round-up: Schuurs responds to links, Wijnaldum contract message

Jurgen Klopp has again spoken about the want to keep Georginio Wijnaldum at Liverpool as his contract winds down.

The Dutchman scored against Wolves on Sunday but still doesn't know where he will be playing his football next term.

He will be free to sign for a new club from January.

Liverpool have also been linked with Wijnaldum's compatriot Perr Schuurs who recently played against them for Ajax.

The Reds have been savaged by injuries, especially in defence, and are expected to seek new faces come January.

Here is a round-up of the latest transfer rumours coming out of Anfield.

Ajax defender responds to links

Ajax centre-half Perr Schuurs insists he sees himself staying at the Dutch club for several years.

He has been linked with a move to Liverpool as they target reinforcements at the heart of the defence.

And while the Dutchman is aware of their interest he has remained focused on his Ajax ambitions.

"I hear and read it [Liverpool rumours] too," Schuurs told SBS6 when asked about his link with Liverpool.

"It’s my first season as a basic player at Ajax.

"I want to play here for a few more seasons and win trophies. I’m not really working on that yet."

Klopp's Wijnaldum message

Klopp has urged Wijnaldum to sign a new deal at Anfield as speculation over his future continues.

The Dutchman scored in their latest win over Wolves but is into the final 12 months of his deal.

The Liverpool boss is hopeful that he prolongs his stay on Merseyside however when asked after the game.

"I hope so [that he signs], to be honest," Klopp told Amazon Sport.

"You can see that, he plays all the time. We have a pretty good relationship. I hope so."

Salah team-mate would reject Reds

Mohamed Salah's Egypt teammate Mohamed El-Shennawy has declared he would reject an offer from  Liverpool  in order to stay with Al Ahly.

El-Shennawy was linked with the Reds in 2019 as they searched for a replacement for outgoing Simon Mignolet - though they eventually brought in Adrian.

Asked how he would respond if Liverpool came calling for his services, El-Shannawy said, via  KingFut   : "I am staying at Al Ahly and my goal is to participate with the team in the Club World Cup.

"Our goal is to achieve something special at the Club World Cup and not just taking part in it. I am never leaving Al Ahly without the club’s consent."
