Liverpool transfer round-up: Jurgen Klopp warned over move as Levi Colwill message sent

Liverpool have enjoyed a busy transfer window so far, with a number of incomings and outgoings at Anfield.

James Milner, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all departed on free transfers, while big money has been spent on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as Jurgen Klopp rebuilds his squad.

It comes after a disappointing season for Liverpool, which saw them fail to qualify for the Champions League. And the Reds' transfer business may not be done just yet, with several other players linked with moves to Merseyside.

Here is the latest news from Anfield.

Klopp warned against transfer

Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, but Klopp has been warned against signing the Uruguayan.

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol told ESPN FC: "If Real Madrid are prepared to let him go it tells you that they don’t think he’s the future. Liverpool have just signed Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, they already have Fabinho, Henderson’s still around for another year.

"Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and two young guys, particularly Elliott who will play. Does he start before Szoboszlai? No. Does he start before Mac Allister? No."

Liverpool sent Colwill message

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has suggested Levi Colwill will not be on the move this summer, despite Liverpool's heavy interest in the defender.

The pair were part England Under-21's side which beat Spain to win the Euros and Colwill went live on Instagram with Madueke after the win. As he approached Madueke, Colwill asked: “What you got to say brother?”

To which the forward replied: " Come on man. Hey, listen. We’re both coming back. He isn’t going. Listen. I will make sure he comes back, you get it?"

Fabinho's verdict on new signings

Fabinho is already looking forward to playing alongside Mac Allister and Szoboszlai next season, telling club media: "We lost, I think, three midfield players that were really important for us in the last maybe five, six years.

"It's good to bring some good players in that position because we will need [them]. In the way we play, the intensity we play, we always need not just three or four but maybe six players in this position [in the squad]. So yes, it’s good to have these two players with us now.

"We played against them already, so we know how good they are. It’s good to have them in the team. I didn’t see them yet, they have a couple more days of holidays.

"We just hope that they will be ready to be with us. We will help them in the adaptation and hope they will be ready and get the ideas of the team as quickly as possible."
